Drywall Estimating Basics
Drywall boards are commonly sold in **4x8 feet sheets (32 sq ft)** or **4x12 feet sheets (48 sq ft)**. To estimate drywall, find the total square footage of the walls and ceiling, then divide by the sheet area.
Estimating Joint Compound and Tape
As a rule of thumb, for every 1,000 square feet of drywall surface area, you will need:
- **35 lbs of joint compound (mud)**
- **1 roll of joint tape (250 feet)**
- **500 drywall screws**
